8 Things You Must Consider If You Have A Large Shoe Size And Love Wearing Heels

The frustration of not being able to find a sexy looking plus size pair of heels to go with our dress is heartfelt. We all love our shoes fancy but when we actually go out shopping for footwear, we literally have to fend for our size. Well, I think I’ve got that covered on my website now. If you go through the Pumps (link pumps page) collection, you’ll realize that the heels that were manufactured for plus size women (I am talking about a couple of decades back in time), were tacky and peculiar looking. Whereas now, what we have in store is chic and elegant.

So buying heels for your size is no more a problem. Maintaining that sexy walk is a bit tricky though. Let’s admit, carrying those 4inch T-straps never fails to make you feel lush and glamorous. But your way to divinity is through the pointers that I’ve listed below for you to skim through.

  • Invest in your shoes: NEVER compromise on quality. I repeat NEVER! Those are not just any shoes. You are going to invest in them because you want to flaunt them for quite a lot of time. So the first thing to keep a check on is to buy a good quality pair. Now, I know that it’s not Utopia and not all of us can fish out a fancy amount for shoes all the time but that’s not even an excuse to spoil your pretty, pedicured feet. Come on! It’s perfectly fine to have a tiny collection. What matters is that it should be spectacular. One that makes you stand out. Plus, let’s face it, better quality shoes mean more stability which in turn gives your body a less of a strain after a long day in them.
  • Shoe inserts are a good choice to make: If heels are something you can’t trot without then consider buying those shoe inserts for a comfortable and painless walk. These pads are made of silicone gel and are oval shaped to fit right under the ball of your foot. They keep your feet in place thereby, avoiding friction and blisters. The best part about these insert-able pads is that even a long walk won’t give you sore feet at the end of it.
  • The position of your heel matters: Heels are designed in a way that they can handle a lot of weight. They have a steel filling. What is important is the positioning of the heel. When buying shoes, you must take notice of the angle at which the heel is placed against the floor. It should be perpendicular to the floor for it to support a good walk. This distributes your weight evenly while reducing the stress on the balls of your foot.
  • Let the pitch be gradual: The slanting part of your shoe between the heel and the toe area is the pitch. While selecting a good pair for yourself do make sure that that the slope of pitch is gradual. More the distance between where the front of the shoe which touches the ground and where the heel touches the ground, the better it is. This will avoid your toe balls having to bear all your weight.
  • Get a sole with a grip: It is fairly acceptable that with heels, the chances of slipping and tripping are comparatively high. What is essential is that you have a sole that has a good grip. But not all our favorite heels come in such soles. So what’s the hack? Well, you can a) rub your soles with a sandpaper. This gives your shoes grip by creating friction or b) get a cobbler to fix rubber soles to your shoes.
  • Strappy shoes are a great pick: Now, if you are on the plus size and have a heel fetish, wearing strappy shoes can be blissful. Apart from giving your feet a secure hold in the shoes, the straps make your feet look smaller. Whether you go for a cross strap or a T-strap, your feet will steal the show with that sexy look.
  • The higher is not always the better: See, ideally the safest size of a heel is 4’’ if comfort is to be the parameter. This much height is something that you can carry naturally. It’s about the same as a releve position in dance. But when you try to go higher than this, I am afraid, you put a lot of pressure on your feet and the arch might start paining. Adding platform to your shoes, nonetheless, gives you the luxury to go higher.
  • Closed toes over peep toes is a better option: The thing with peep toes is that it gives room to your toes to slip forward, creating friction which leads to blisters. Shoes with closed toes and a cushioned toe box keep your feet intact thereby, giving you a better hold. While choosing a closed toe pair make sure that your toe gets enough space to not get crushed while you walk.

Having listed the most crucial points to keep in mind while buying heels for plus size feet, I can say that heels are a big YES with big girls because we can strut the ramp in them and be sassy about it!
